REAL PROPERTY INSTITUTE OF CANADA

   THE INSTITUTE

Letter from the President

2008 - Year of Renewal!

2008 officially marks the 10th year of the Real Property Institute of Canada (RPIC) as an incorporated organization. The Institute is dedicated to the promotion of professionalism and effectiveness of the disciplines of real property management within the federal public sector.

As we continue the course of developing and fostering a high professional standard of real property management, the Institute will be seeking ways to renew itself in responding to the needs expressed by its community. Consequently, our focus will be on the following four (4) key priorities:

Professional Development

  • Collaborate with academic institutions in providing professional development training to our real property managers; and,
  • Collaborate with the Treasury Board of Canada, Secretariat in the development of a professional development and certification program for the federal real property community.

Partnerships

  • Establish partnerships with academia, as well as other public and private sector organizations, in areas of mutual interests, including the delivery of national and regional events, training sessions, seminars, and panel discussions on economic, social and environmental issues affecting the management of real property.

National/Regional Workshops

  • Review and re-engineer the delivery of regional and national workshops to better reach out to the 5,000 plus employees from multiple disciplines within the real property community.

Awards and Recognition

  • Enhance the visibility and recognition of the efforts and successes of our peers.

As a result, governance committees will be established for each priority and will be composed of Board Directors and members of the real property community. Your participation on these committees is critical to the success of these initiatives as well as the renewal of the Real Property Institute of Canada.

Regards,

Jean-Pierre St-Amand
President
