RPIC Federal Real Property Week November 23rd – 27th, 2009

The program is almost complete for RPIC’s Federal Real Property Week (FRPW) happening from November 23rd – 27th. The Real Property Institute of Canada (RPIC) continuously strives to increase awareness of the importance of real property in reference to the federal government’s programs and services. RPIC has created a schedule of events for FRPW that promises to unite the real property community and offer progressive solutions and approaches to move the community forward through these challenging times.

The highlight of the week will be the Real Property National Workshop happening at the Palais des congres in Gatineau on November 24th – 26th. The “Real Property in Real Time” themed workshop will kick off with a Professional Development Day followed by a Trade Show and two day Symposium.

The Professional Development Day will offer keynote presentations and a choice of four training sessions each providing practical, timely and substantive opportunities to build your professional toolkit. For a detailed description of each of the four planned training sessions, please click here.

The two-day Symposium will offer rare opportunities to hear a variety of keynote presentations from experts in their fields and four streams of concurrent breakout sessions. These streams include the following topics:

1. Real Property People
2. Project Management Excellence
3. Built for Speed: Tools for Success
4. Housing World Class Science: Modernizing Federal Laboratories

The Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony recognizing groups or individuals who have made a major contribution to the federal real property community will be held Wednesday evening at the Museum of Civilization.

The Trade Show will take place on November 24th and 25th. For increased exposure, the Welcome Reception will be held in the Trade Show area on the 24th and the Trade Show will continue throughout the following day. Exhibitors have the opportunity to target 300+ delegates responsible for the management of over 30,000,000 hectares of land and more than 45,000 buildings across Canada. Exhibitors are guaranteed high visibility before, during, and after the Workshop offering an opportunity to promote new products and unveil new strategies to virtually every organization within the federal public sector as well as provincial, municipal and private sectors. Interested exhibitors can click here for details.

Numerous partnership opportunities exist for the Real Property National Workshop. Partners receive valuable exposure and recognition throughout the entire Federal Real Property community. For a complete list of remaining opportunities, please click here.

All delegates, partners, and exhibitors are also invited to attend the ADM Circle of Champions Panel Discussion taking place at the Palais des congres from 9am – 11am on Friday, November 27th. Attendance is free and strongly encouraged as RPIC’s 2009 ADM Champion Gordon McIvor (VP, Strategic Acquisitions, Public and Government Affairs Canada Lands Company) will moderate a discussion between himself, the 2008 RPIC ADM Champion John McBain (A/ADM, Real Property Branch, Public Works and Government Services Canada), the 2010 RPIC ADM Champion Scott Stevenson (ADM, Infrastructure and Environment, Department of National Defence), and Gavin Liddy (Assistant Secretary, Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat). More information to follow.
