In March 2020, business as usual for the Real Property Institute of Canada (RPIC) ground to a halt due to Covid-19. The pandemic and resultant government legislation banning mass gatherings made it impossible to hold our events. As a result, the Federal Contaminated Sites National Workshop, scheduled for June 8-10 in Quebec City, was initially postponed to 2021.
As the scope and duration of the pandemic’s impact has become clearer, RPIC has adjusted its response. The in-person Federal Contaminated Sites National Workshop has been cancelled and we are pivoting our business model to provide online, virtual training programs until such time as we may safely return to offering live, in-person workshops.
As we prepare to substitute these workshops with virtual offerings, we have already started planning RPIC’s first virtual Real Property National Workshop, currently scheduled for November 2020.
RPIC is rising to the challenges presented by Covid-19 and is pushing forward to continue providing timely and relevant training opportunities to our community. Our Mission remains unchanged:
“To foster and enable professional development, knowledge exchange and lifelong learning across the federal government real property community.”
As a volunteer-driven organization, we are profoundly grateful to the many individuals on the RPIC Board and its committees who, along with our dedicated staff, are steering RPIC through this vital transition! We are developing content and building capacity to continue to serve you with valuable learning opportunities.
As future offerings become available, we will reach out through email, social media and other means to keep you informed. We always appreciate feedback and comments through our various platforms as this allows us to better understand your training needs. We hope you will continue to look to RPIC as a trusted, reliable source of real property related training.
