2010 Breakfast Speaker Series

Guide to Real Property Management: Aboriginal Context

The presentation by Treasury Board Secretariat, INAC and Justice, provides the context and approaches to best practices for federal real property practitioners and managers who have legal obligations or practical reasons to consult with Aboriginal groups during the lifecycle management of federal properties. From the property managers’ perspective, the TB Guide accompanies and complements the Aboriginal Consultation and Accommodation: Interim Guidelines for Federal Officials to Fulfill the Legal Duty to Consult, which were released in 2008 under Canada Action Plan on Aboriginal Consultation and Accommodation.

This Training session will be available at several locations across Canada in the coming weeks.

Supplementary Training: The real property management (aboriginal context) training compliments the INAC/Justice training on the Aboriginal Consultation and Accommodation Interim Guidelines for Federal Officials to Fulfill the Legal Duty to Consult. If you have not yet studied the latter, it is recommended that you take the training on legal obligations or Aboriginal consultation. If interested, please contact the INAC coordinator for this training, Jeanne Cadorette, at Jeanne.Cadorette@ainc-inac.gc.ca. She can provide a list of when and where additional training on legal obligations will be available across Canada.
