Innovating
in Today’s Environment
November 23-25, 2010
Metro Toronto Convention Centre
In an effort to become a truly national organization, for
the first time in 23 years, the Real Property Institute of
Canada (RPIC) is holding its Real Property National Workshop
outside the National Capital Area. On behalf of the organizing
committee, I would like to take this opportunity to say “Welcome
to Toronto”!
As federal real property professionals
responsible for managing 24,030 owned and leased properties,
40 million hectares of
land, 42,656 buildings, and 30,054,277 square meters of
floor space (Source: Directory of Federal Real Property)
across
Canada, RPIC members are at the vanguard of the government
response to today’s challenging economic environment,
through continuously improving the efficient use of federal
real property assets. Our role is definitely important to
Canadians – and now more than ever!
This year’s
theme is “Innovating in Today’s
Environment” and the Workshop will focus on developing
innovative approaches to real property management in support
of the federal government’s strategic priorities. During
these times of fiscal restraint, the federal real property
community is increasingly called upon to find innovative
ways to achieve excellence in the management of a complex
real property portfolio which enables the effective delivery
of programs and services to Canadians.
Given this, I hope
you will enjoy discussing this year’s
pertinent Workshop topics and meeting up with your fellow
real property professionals to exchange ideas and information.
Together, we will become reinvigorated and better equipped
to rise to the challenges posed by working in today’s
environment.
