Ottawa Convention
Centre Redevelopment
Graham Bird, P.Eng., President, GBAssociates
The Ottawa Convention Centre (OCC), which
opens in the spring of 2011, will feature an environmentally
friendly design, set new standards for sustainable practices,
serve guests with state-of-the-art technology, and provide a
landmark setting for memorable meetings for decades to come.
It is now under construction on the site of the old Congress
Centre, part of a major redevelopment that will almost triple
its hosting capacity, and greatly enhance its appeal to national
and international convention, meeting, and trade show planners.
Environmental sustainability is a major component of the new
facility – 90 percent of the debris from the existing site
is being recycled, with a significant portion being used in the
construction of the OCC. Upon completion, the project will achieve
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification.
Join us for an update on the redevelopment of the OCC and learn
about the striking innovations and new technology being used
in the construction of the facility, and associated project management
best practices.
