2008 RPIC Federal Contaminated Sites
National Workshop
April 28
- May 1, 2008
Sheraton Wall Centre, Vancouver, Canada
The first Federal Contaminated Sites National
Workshop, held in Ottawa in March 2006, was a landmark event.
It brought together almost 400 federal environmental remediation
specialists and environmental industry representatives to exchange
ideas and information about the challenges of addressing the
thousands of known and suspected contaminated sites for which
the federal government is responsible.
Based on the enthusiastic response to the
2006 event, the Real Property Institute of Canada invites you
to participate in the 2008 Federal Contaminated Sites National
Workshop, to be held from April 28 to May 1, 2008 at the spectacular
Sheraton Wall Centre in Vancouver, Canada. All exhibits, professional
development and technical sessions will be held at the hotel.
The one-day Professional Development sessions
will provide technical and management specialists with an opportunity
for in-depth learning. The National Workshop itself will feature
eight concurrent sessions on the first two days of the workshop,
with a half-day of plenary sessions and keynote address on the
last day.
Each concurrent session will be chaired
by a leader in environmental remediation and will consist of
a topic keynote address by the session chair, 8 to 10 paper presentations,
and a panel discussion to wrap up the day. We will focus on issues
and recent advances in:
- Remediation in Northern Environments;
- Managing Large Environmental Remediation Projects;
- Human Health Risk Assessment and Risk Communication Strategies;
- Ecological Risk Assessment and Risk Management;
- Brownfields Remediation;
- Innovative Remediation Technologies;
- Remediation Management; and,
- Remediation of Sediments.
The last day offers an opportunity to learn
more about the Federal Contaminated Sites Action Plan, an ambitious
15-year plan to address contamination for which the federal government
is responsible.
The program will also provide ample opportunity
for networking with sponsors, government representatives, academic
researchers and privates sector firms through daily continental
breakfasts, morning and afternoon breaks, buffet lunches on workshop
days, a welcoming reception and a gala dinner.
An expanded trade show and poster area
will allow delegates to learn about new advances in the remediation
of contaminated sites from leaders in the environmental remediation
industry.
The Workshop Planning Committee has worked
hard to prepare a program responding to your needs and interests
and is looking forward to welcoming you to the 2008 RPIC Federal
Contaminated Sites National Workshop. Please consult the detailed
program to learn more about this exciting event.
See you in Vancouver!
