October President’s Message
As my time as RPIC President comes to a close, I offer this final greeting to the real property community. Before I share my gratitude for this rewarding term and say my farewells, I have some important updates to share.
Marine Infrastructure National Workshop a resounding success!
First off, I would like to congratulate the Chair, Khaled Manai, and his organizing committee for an immensely successful and first ever virtual event for the Marine Infrastructure National Workshop, which took place from September 21 to 23. The event attracted 181 participants, who shared in an educational three days with a wealth of invaluable knowledge from our two keynote speakers.
Upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM).
It’s getting to be that time of year again where we look ahead to our AGM, which will this year be held on October 13. There will be a transition of some outgoing and new incoming board members, as well as changes to the Board Executive.
We will have a full update to provide on these changes after the Board election takes place at the AGM.
Some exciting news about our website.
Stay tuned for some exciting news about our website. RPIC recently launched a new project to refresh our branding and develop a new website. It’s too early to say much yet, but we’re very excited about the project and are working to make your user experience on our site much better. We look forward to your feedback as we implement it!
Two national workshops and more coming in November!
As we enter the last quarter of 2021, I’d like to encourage you to register for our remaining program offerings this Fall. We have a great line up of workshops and webinars in the coming months, some of which include:
Keep an eye out for the 2021 Speech from the Throne Summary.
Did you know the RPIC team undertakes comprehensive analysis of key federal documents, such as the Federal Budget, Ministerial Mandate letters, and Economic updates? As a result, we can identify the key points of interest for the real property community.
With the election behind us, watch for a summary from the 2021 Speech from the Throne after it is delivered later this Fall.
The demand for training has never been higher. The skills gap is large, and the community needs to keep pace.
We have laid a foundation for future success by identifying the need to build a learning program with flexibility to respond to this vast community of experts, including “Just in Time” and “Just for Me.”
Watch for our new curriculum coming out later this year. There is something for everyone!
Finally, thank you for a rewarding term!
It has been such an amazing, yet challenging year and a half as the Institute managed its way through the Coronavirus pandemic, and we have emerged even stronger.
I would like to acknowledge the dedicated and determined volunteers who have worked tirelessly through this unpredictable time. From the Board of Directors, who skillfully led the organization as we shifted in response to the pandemic, to our many Committee members, who took the initiative to design and deliver outstanding programming. You have all done astounding work.
I would also like to offer heartfelt thanks to our annual and event partners, whose contributions are vital in enabling RPIC to deliver our professional development offerings to this community.
In the last year, we have successfully pivoted to a virtual space. Our online events have included two national workshops, six Professional Development Days, an exclusive federal Executive Session, and numerous webinars – all with positive results!
Among the many successes to celebrate, our events saw registration matching in-person attendance from previous years, increased regional accessibility and participation, positive feedback on relevance and accessibility, and increased volunteerism for future events
With support from RPIC’s Senior Advisory Council, we also launched a “pilot” Mentoring Program. Special thanks to Council members for your contributions as mentors, and for all your valuable input into our planning activities.
In closing, I am full of gratitude for having had the opportunity to serve as President of the Institute, and I am so very proud of all our accomplishments.
